Sundance

Sundance Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the discovery and development of independent artists and audiences. Through its programs, the Institute seeks to discover, support, and inspire independent film and theatre artists from the United States and around the world, and to introduce audiences to their new work.

IFC

IFC creates the movies that people talk about; we work with the director who gets the accolades for taking chances; we obsess about independent films on television. Independent films stand the test of time. They are not reliant on the latest fad, trend or special effect. Instead they are provocative, challenging and enlightening - representing a point of view, the personal vision of the filmmaker. This vision remains valid, the stories remain relevant, and the emotional connection is still as real years later as it was the day the film was released.

indieWIRE

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, indieWIRE is the leading news, information, and social networking site for the international independent film community, including comprehensive coverage of indie, documentary and foreign language films, as well industry news, film festival reports, filmmaker interviews, and movie reviews. Its website (http://www.indiewire.com) includes special sections for high-profile film festivals, the new indieLOOP community site, filmmaker and industry weblogs, as well as resources and tools for emerging and established filmmakers. Awarded the Webby for best film website, indieWIRE was lauded as a "must read" by Variety, branded the "online heartbeat of the world's independent film community" by Forbes, and dubbed "best indie crossroads" by film critic Roger Ebert.

Paramount Vantage

Paramount Classics is the specialty film division of Paramount Pictures (which in turn is owned by Viacom), charged with producing, purchasing, distributing and marketing films, generally those with a more "art house" feel than films made and distributed by its parent company. In 2006, Paramount Classics President John Lesher announced that the name of the unit will be changed to Paramount Vantage. The Paramount Classics brand will be relaunched as a distributor of "smaller, review-driven films", such as foreign-language acquisitions and documentaries.

Warner Independent Pictures

Warner Independent Pictures is the independent film studio and distributor division of Warner Bros. Entertainment. Launched in August 2003, its first film, Before Sunset, was released in 2004.

Focus Features

Focus Features (formerly USA Films) is the art house films division of NBC Universal's Universal Studios, and acts as both a producer and distributor for its own films and a distributor for foreign films. Focus also serves as a producer and distributor of low-budget action/horror films through its Rogue Pictures division (similar to the Weinstein Company's Dimension Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment's Screen Gems). Focus was formed from the 2002 divisional merger of USA Films, Universal Focus and Good Machine. USA Films was created by Barry Diller in 1999 by combining October Films, Gramercy Pictures, and USA Home Entertainment. Its most successful release to date was Brokeback Mountain (2005), which earned more than $85,000,000 at the boxoffice.
