IFP (Independent Feature Project) was founded in 1979 on a belief that a truly vital American cinema must include the personal, idiosyncratic, and sometimes controversial voices of filmmakers working outside of the established studio system. As a not-for-profit organization, its mission is to foster a more sustainable infrastructure that supports Independent Filmmaking and ensures that the public has the opportunity to see films that more accurately reflect the full diversity of the American culture.

Sundance Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the discovery and development of independent artists and audiences. Through its programs, the Institute seeks to discover, support, and inspire Independent Film and theatre artists from the United States and around the world, and to introduce audiences to their new work.

IFC creates the movies that people talk about; we work with the director who gets the accolades for taking chances; we obsess about Independent Films on television. Independent Films stand the test of time. They are not reliant on the latest fad, trend or special effect. Instead they are provocative, challenging and enlightening - representing a point of view, the personal vision of the filmmaker.
